Historical note

Department of aviation radio electronic complexes founded in 1966 as part of Radio Engineering faculty of Kiev Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers with the name of “Department of airports radio engineering equipment”.

Since 1967 the department had the name “Department of aviation maintenance of radio electronic equipment”, and since 1987 – “Department of operation and repair of the radio engineering flight support and air traffic control.”

Since 1999 the Department received the new name “Department of radio electronic complexes.”

The first head of the department in 1966-1967 years. was an associate professor V.V.Kazimyrchak.

During the 1967-2003 years the department was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Emeritus Professor of NAU, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Vladimir Stefanovic Novikov.

In the 2003-2013 years the department was headed by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Igor Grigorovich Prokopenko.

In 2006 department of radio electronic complexes called “Department of aviation radio electronic complexes.”

From 2013 the department is headed by Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Volodymyr Mykolayovych Vasyliev.

In different periods of existence of the department scientific and educational activities in its composition performed NAU Honored Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor L. J. Ilnytskyy, NAU Distinguished Professor,State Prize laureate, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor V.O. Ignatov, Ukraine State Prize Laureate, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor A.Y. Beletsky, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor I.G. Prokopenko and other recognized researchers and pedagogues.
